The Story Of 3D Formed
It all began with an idea: to build a custom 3D-printed strobe light for my powered paraglider. I started by teaching myself the basics of 3D modeling using Google SketchUp, eventually moving on to Fusion 360 to bring more precision to my designs.
Once I felt confident in my skills, I took the plunge and built my first 3D printer—a Prusa kit that I assembled myself. Within a week, I was printing the first prototype of that strobe light.
What started as a personal project quickly turned into a passion. I began designing and printing a transponder mount for my paramotor, boat compass holders for microlights and started offering them to other pilots through Etsy and my online Shop.
Over the past 7+ years, that hands-on experience has grown into something more. With a solid foundation in design and printing, I decided to turn that passion into a small, independent business: 3dFormed.
